-But not prepared to waste cellular energies in dealing with GT&TDigicel Guyana is prepared to ink a contract at anytime to allow for the interconnection of its network with that of the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) so that customers could benefit from SMS between networks. But according to Digicel Guyana Chief Executive Officer, Gregory Dean, the issue that his company now faces is getting closure on a contract which the two entities have been deliberating. Dean said that from a technical point of view both networks, since last year May, were tested and the interconnection prospect is possible, adding that the system can be activated within mere seconds.“This has been the case for over eight months now and we are willing to sign the contract anytime…Since December GT&T made some recommendations for changes to the contract and we accepted all the changes, sent (the contract) back and yet we have not heard from them. “We don’t know why they are reluctant to interconnect…I think the problem is that there is a culture difference between the two companies. Once Digicel finds that something is technically tested and ready we want to launch it tomorrow.”According to Dean, from all indications GT&T has to go through a process. “I don’t know what the process is over the long period of time before they decide on what they want to do. We will push it as much as we can but at the end of the day we have a business to run as well.”Dean disclosed that the current texting situation of Digicel Guyana is significant but could not speak to the situation should the interconnection plans materialise. He pointed out,Jerseys NFL China, though, that Digicel Guyana will not see any major revenue gains from the interconnection, adding that the process is simply being regarded as a basic service to customers.“We can’t waste cellular energies just trying to deal with GT&T over what is really a basic service for customers. In any country you go customers can text between networks and I don’t see why Guyana should be different,” Dean noted. And while it awaits the interconnection as it relates to SMS,Authentic NFL Jerseys Wholesale, Digicel Guyana is quite optimistic that its international privileges may be soon possible, a notion which was mooted by Dean, even as he alluded to the ‘encouraging noise’ made by Finance Minister Ashni Singh as it related to the budget. He pointed out though that in terms of the international discussions, Digicel Guyana still remains a spectator to the process. “At the end of the day the agreement is between the GT&T and the government.”Dean speculated, though,China Jersyes Cheap, that the key to resolving the matter lies in the hands of President Bharrat Jagdeo, the Minister with responsibility for Telecoms,Cheap Jerseys Free Shipping, if he is able to give attention to the situation for a sustained period. The CEO acknowledged, though, that it is evident that the President is always taken up with other issues of concern. And as it relates to the cell company being able to comply with the Telecommunications Legislation,Cheap Jerseys From China, Dean disclosed that currently Digicel Guyana is not in a position to intercept any calls. He explained that because of the way in which the network is configured,Cheap NFL Jerseys, the company is unable to listen or even record any call.“We are still in discussions with government to work out what the final mechanism will be…We don’t really want to intercept anyone’s conversation because people will have suspicions about who is listening to their calls and will be worried about their call information. But if it is a requirement of the law and from a security point of view it makes sense to do it, then we are willing to cooperate with the government…,” Dean asserted. He did note that the installation of inception equipment is expected to be a very costly undertaking.Digicel, which has its brand present in several Caribbean islands, has only been providing interception service to Jamaica which has legislation similar to what is being proposed locally, Dean said.
