Centenarian Viola Shaw passed away on Wednesday last. She was 102. ‘Auntie Viola’ as she was fondly referred to, was a resident of the Bryer’s Senior Citizen Home on Robb Street.Mrs. Shaw was very contented in her love for God as she had said that it was because of her contentment in him,Man City Away Shirt 2018/19, that she was able to live such a long life.Life was not always a bed of roses for her as she suffered major childhood losses and was also robbed of quality secondary education. However, according to the pleasant centenarian, God’s favour was upon her life as he continuously made provision for her throughout her many decades of living. She was predeceased by her parents, only sister and husband. With nothing close to ingratitude,Jordan 12 Retro Australia, the Centenarian had oftentimes prayed to God to be taken to rest, but apparently he was not ready for her as he paid her his deaf ears. Her death came almost four months after she celebrated her 102nd birthday.Shaw was born to Joseph Phillips and Annette Gill,Douglas Costa Maglia Juve, in New Amsterdam, Berbice, on Thursday April 17, 1913. She was the first of two children.According to her in an interview with a Kaieteur News reporter in April,Emre Can Maglia Juve, she was always the object of affection for everyone she came into contact with.Being the lovely child that she was, a lot of persons were interested in taking her from her father after her mother had passed away while she was yet a toddler. In a bid to remain in custody of her and her younger sister,Jordan Retro 11 For Sale Mens, her father had brought them both to Georgetown, when she was only eight years old. After relocating she had to be transferred from the Chapel Congregational School in New Amsterdam, to St. George’s School. Unfortunately she was unable to complete her secondary education as she was forced to take up employment with a friend of her father’s.“I didn’t have much education because I was living with people, and working with them, but God gave me a brain and I remember things very well” said the enthused Mrs. Shaw in her last interview with Kaieteur News.On her first employment with the D’Andrade family, she did the ironing of the family’s clothing before she went on to being a maid at Associated Industries Limited (Ainlim). It was while she was employed on her second job, that she met her prince charming who she then married. She was presented with a house by her employers, where she lived for a number of years. However, her family after considering her aging,Maglia Juventus Bambino, had placed her in the Mercy Hospital, but she had to leave after sometime because the hospital’s bill had became too hefty.Leaving the hospital was very hard for her as she had developed a bond with the nurses there; they had became close as family. She then became a resident at Bryer’s Senior Citizen Home, under the care of Ms. Sonia Wills, where she lived for just over a year before passing away. She was a parishioner at St. Sidwell’s Anglican Church. The funeral of Viola Shaw will be held on Monday, August 10. Her body will be at the Sandy’s Funeral Parlour before being taken to the St. Sidwell’s Anglican Church for a service. Interment will be in the churchyard.
