The Police’s A Division (Georgetown/East Bank Demerara) has overtaken the interior and East Coast Demerara divisions as the murder capital of Guyana so far this year.Figures released by the Guyana Police Force revealed that A Division has recorded 23 out of the total 75 murders committed at the end of July.This year’s total murder figure is around six percent less than for the same period last year.In 2011, at the end of July, A Division had recorded 20 murders.This year for the same period, the East Coast of Demerara has recorded 17 murders, one more than the interior division which has 16, down from 23 last year.Berbice, with 10 murders, comes next, followed by West Demerara with seven.
