By Abena Rockcliffe Almost three dozen journalists yesterday walked away from the closing ceremony of the Responsible Journalism workshop with either renewed enthusiasm, improved knowledge, refreshed memory or a combination of all.? That perspective is a reflection of the consensus among the participants that the workshop was a success.With the participants in the background with certificates, sitting from left are: Dean of Faculty of Social Science,http://www.soccerpro.us.com/Atletico-Madrid-FC/, Dr. Paloma Mohammed, Award Winning Journalist,Air Max 1 Atmos, Andrew Alexander, US Ambassador D. Brent Hardt, US Professor Dr. Yusuf Kalyango and Director of the Centre for Communication Studies at UG, Ms. Carolyn Walcott.Since Wednesday last, reporters representing almost all of the media houses in Guyana, were involved in the workshop which was held under the theme “Democracy,Nike Huarache Shoes For Sale, Journalism and Responsibility- expectations for an informed society”.The seminar was facilitated by award-winning international experts on journalism, Dr. Yusuf Kalyango and Andrew Alexander. Dr. Kalyango is a professor of journalism and Mr. Alexander is a Former Washington Post Ombudsman.In an interview with Kaieteur News, Dr. Kalyango noted that one of the primary objectives of the workshop was the impartation of relevant journalistic knowledge and the other, which he emphasized even more, was to help local journalists to be able to contribute to the improvement of Guyanese living standards.The topics touched on during the workshop included: advocacy Journalism and social responsibility; political communication, political campaigns, and democratization, essentials of television news; investigative reporting, TV and reporting conflicts/protests; Electoral democracy; Journalism Ethics,Nike Shox Clearance, using Public opinion to effect change and medical Journalism and ethics.During the workshop, though there were separate sessions for the greater benefit of print media and sessions for that of the Television News, facilitators managed to maintain a balance.All sessions accommodated interaction and managed to hold the attention of all in attendance.Facilitators managed to keep the sessions to a large extent practical, and relevant scenarios were used to contextualize given concepts. Also, guidelines were provided for reporters to reference.Participants were even given assignments to put in effect what they have learnt or had been reminded of. Both facilitators expressed that they were impressed with the work done by reporters as reflected in the projects and even noted that they saw “improvement.”During the sessions,Teemu Selanne Ducks Throwback Jersey, many discussions came up about general challenges faced by local reporters,Deion Jones Falcons Jersey UK, and advice, based on experience, were provided by the facilitators.The workshop was?a collaboration between the United States of America; Ohio University’s Institute for International Journalism in the Scripps College of Communication and the United States Embassy, Georgetown. It was spearheaded by the Centre for Communication Studies, University of Guyana.
