…says legal scholars now fear that nation on the brink of anarchyLeader of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR),Cheap Jerseys Store, Robert Corbin,Site Air Max Pas Cher, is now warning that there will come a time when the strain on the populace will be so unbearable that much like a pressure cooker,Discount NFL Jerseys, there will be an automatic explosion or conflagration in society.Corbin was responding to media operatives who were inquiring as to why there has been no massive demonstration against the many atrocities that he illustrated as happened over the past 17 years under the Bharrat Jagdeo Administration.According to Corbin, people are not rallying massively because of spectre of fear that permeates the society. “That is why they are reluctant.”He said that the Administration has created an environment where people are afraid to speak out adding that they are afraid to be identified as opposing the regime for fear of victimisation and even the loss of their jobs.Corbin also posited that business owners too are afraid to speak out for fear of being victimised in that the government would use the various mechanisms at its disposal to disenfranchise them.“I want to advise that history shows no amount of suppression will prevail…There will come a time when the pressure is so much there will be an automatic explosion…history is replete with such examples.”During his party’s most recent press briefing held at Congress Place Sophia,Cheap Jerseys Free, Corbin reported that the current People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) Government did not celebrate the recent October 5 anniversary which the party has in the past celebrated with much pomp and splendor as the ‘Return to democracy.’PNCR executive,Cheap Jerseys From China, Keith Scott, joined Corbin to chronicle the PPPC’s 17 years in office.According to Corbin,Wholesale Authentic Jerseys Outlet, it has been 17 years since the PNCR was ousted from ruling the nation and the current administration acceded to office. The situation has further deteriorated with the Jagdeo Administration’s heightened arrogance and total disregard for public opinion to the extent that fear stalks the land.He posited that the result has been the deterioration in the crime and security situation, an economy that has declined and a dissatisfied and unhappy population whose recourse has been to use every opportunity to seek their fortunes in different lands.According to Corbin, the lull in celebrations of what the administration has allowed its much touted ‘Return to Democracy’ was that “they recognise that they can no longer deceive the people of Guyana.“Guyana is beset by a plethora of difficult problems…The entire democratic fabric of the nation is in tatters. The anti-democratic practices and one-man rule are manifest and, increasingly, commentators in Guyana and beyond the borders of this Republic are now referring to Guyana as an “elected dictatorship.”Corbin pointed out that the hallmark of any true democracy is the triumph of the rule of law. The opposite is true in contemporary Guyana. He noted that it is an inescapable fact that over the last 17 years the rule of law has been so badly eroded that legal scholars now fear that we are on the brink of anarchy.“The PPPC Administration is entirely answerable for this unacceptable situation…The example was set by the Presidency when the late Janet Jagan threw a court order over her shoulder to ensure that she was sworn in as President. Since then the PPP has shown nothing but contempt for the rule of law.”He added that not only has the Administration undermined the independence of the judiciary, it has repeatedly flouted court orders internally and regionally. “Guyanese are fully aware of the attempts to manipulate and politicise the functions of the Chief Justice and Chancellor, the prolonged refusal to appoint an acting Chief Justice and the frequent attacks on the judiciary and its decisions…“The Government’s continued contempt for Court decisions has made them so comfortable that they have now moved to demonstrate that contempt externally by disregarding decisions of the newly established Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ).”
