By Tusika Martinin TrinidadSome of the participants at the joint opening ceremony of the private sector and youth fora on WednesdayThe promotion of human prosperity in the hemisphere depends on the creation of wealth from the private sector, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Patrick Manning said Wednesday, during the joint opening ceremony of the Private Sector and Youth Fora.Speaking to participants, the Trinidadian Prime Minister said that the approach by the private sector must be to recognize that in every crisis there are always opportunities.He urged the entities to pay special attention to the economic needs of the smaller vulnerable economies of the region as they guide micro,Major League Baseball Jerseys, small and medium-sized enterprises in becoming strategic forces.The aim of the forum was for participants to develop proposals for capacity building and, according to Prime Minister Manning, this was to be done while taking into consideration the development of financial and physical infrastructure and the reinvigoration of the agriculture sector.The private sector was also called upon to help in the war against poverty and to create dignified work for the people of the hemisphere by raising standards of living through the development of business opportunities.Speaking about the role of the private sector, Manning noted that they need to produce new ideas for energy security and environmental sustainability, since access and cheaper energy will promote development of countries in the region.Addressing the youths, meanwhile, Manning urged that they not underscore their role at the Summit as their contribution is critical.“Your role in assisting the Summit with resolving some of the economic distresses within the communities of the Americas makes you key to its overall success. This is the first time in the history of the Summit of the Americas that there is a separate forum for youths.”With loud applause from the youths, Manning said that they have indeed earned their place at the summit.“Throughout the hemisphere our young people have been an inspiration for us in many areas of endeavour; youths have been the pioneers and the trendsetters in music,Chinanu Onuaku Jersey, art, fashion, sport; youths are the creators of the ‘new’.”Initially, youth participation in the Summit was conceived as a vehicle to enable young people to become more involved in entrepreneurship and small business development, but then,Jeff Hornacek Jersey, Manning said, it was recognized that youths have a greater role to play.“Your new agenda has a strong element of business and a wider portfolio, which allows you to address other matters of youth development.”He urged the youths that during their deliberations they consider the plight of the less fortunate in the region.“We are trying to build from this summit the collective vision for the Americas,Andrew Benintendi World Series Jersey, one that reaches out to all people of the hemisphere,John Stockton Jersey, especially the most vulnerable…for too many of our people in the Americas, life is too harsh and unforgiving.”The real challenge for the youths is the developing of programmes for young people in communities across the Americas that have reasons, ‘real or imagined’,Utah Jazz Jerseys, to believe that they are being marginalized by society, Manning said. “We need programmes that will inspire them to creativity and involvement; we need to harness their tremendous energy by creating opportunities and incentives for them to prosper. We must make it possible for them to assume their rightful place as productive and empowered citizens of society.”Both the youth and private sector forums ended Wednesday in time for them to make presentations to the foreign ministers of each hemispheric country yesterday.
