A policeman and an ex-US soldier who was a prime suspect in the murder of his wife are among five men now in custody in connection with last Sunday’s brutal slaying of 25-year-old Nekecia Rouse and 18-year-old Alexis Keshia Charles in New Amsterdam.Kaieteur News has learnt that the police rank was detained late on Sunday night, after investigators received word that he had accompanied one of the women home shortly before she was slain.Sources identified another suspect as a former US soldier, who went on trial in 2004 for the murder of his wife. Police officials said yesterday that the persons they have held are all acquaintances of the two victims.However, they have as yet made no significant progress in their investigations.
