Last year, the Ministry secured the services of two Mathematics Specialists – at the level of a Senior Education Officer in the Secondary Sector and another at the National Centre for Educational Resource Development.These services were acquired even as efforts were made to collaborate with the World Bank to introduce some new measures to make learning Mathematics accessible and interesting.The need for secondary education has been an issue that has been commented on in many factions.According to Manickchand’s colleague Minister, Dr Leslie Ramsammy, who currently holds responsibility for the Ministry of Agriculture the inability to access secondary level education has been identified as one of the major hindrances that have over the years stymied people’s elevation to professional standing.
