The Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG) on Saturday commissioned a Computer Centre at the New Amsterdam Mulsim Youth Organisation (NAMYO) building at Pitt Street. It was just one of several other commissionings of computer and sewing centres, done by the CIOG over the weekend across Guyana to boost its empowerment drive of the people.Youths actively engaged on the computers after the commissioning.Recognizing that the population does not possess the skills to compete in the work environment and the need to enhance their capacity, and break the cycle of poverty, the CIOG has once again partnered with Asad Al Sanad Trust in the construction of five Computer and Sewing Machines Centres across Guyana. On Saturday last, a Sewing Centre was opened at the Diamond/Grove Masjid, while Computer Centres were constructed and handed over the weekend at Aurora Masjid, Essequibo; Blairmont, West Bank Berbice. Also yesterday, other sewing centres were opened at the Blairmont Masjid.Those commissioning do not include another computer centre commissioned a few days ago at Meten-meer- Zorg Islamic Academy, West Coast Demerara.Sheikh Moen-ul-Hack, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Education of CIOG, praised the initiative of their Islamic brother in Kuwait.Shiekh Moen alluded to the numerous education training the CIOG is actively engaged in across Guyana.
