The Information Technology department of the Mayor and City Council (M&CC) received a boost with the donation of 10 new computer systems from a New York-based company.It is hoped that with the introduction of these new systems,Wholesale Jerseys, the M&CC will ultimately deliver better services to the people of Guyana,Cheap Jerseys Store, the I.T. Manager said.The new systems, which cost about US$8,000 in total, were donated by the ZARA Group of Companies and handed over to the M&CC by ZARA’s Assistant Controller, Nardeo Singh, and Executive Member Sravan Kumar.Singh explained that the contribution to the M&CC was the first such administration partnership embarked upon by ZARA. For years, ZARA has been giving back to the Guyanese public but this is usually done through community projects.“Since 2007, we’ve got involved in education in Guyana by giving opportunities to the less fortunate in various communities. We feel we’ve done a lot on the community end but when we were approached by the city council we realized they needed help on the administration end,” Singh said.He said that the donation to the M&CC was not only of equipment but of guidance.“It’s not only about giving computers. From that assessment, Singh said, it was recognized that there were shortcomings in the current setup. He said that his main concern was the lack of an integrated system where processes can be tracked from beginning to end. He said that this is particularly important in the City Hall, a body where members of the public constantly seek information from. He noted that M&CC lacked not only resources for such a system but also the expertise.“What we saw with the way the computers are located and the networking and so forth, they need some help in getting that cleaned up and getting it more updated. So we decided that the first thing we want to do is look at that and donate some computer systems, but at the same time look at an integrated system…I want to teach this administration that we must work smart, not hard,Cheap NFL Jerseys, and with an integrated system we will be able to do that,” he said.Singh added that many of the personnel of the M&CC were stuck between a non-digital and a semi-digital world. He said that this presented a conundrum and would make it a long way to getting the administration into a digital age. He stressed that it was pointless to upgrade a system without training the necessary personnel in this setup.“We’re going to have in depth discussions on how far we want to go with this partnership,” Singh said.He added that there will be free computer consulting services, which is actually more expensive than the computers.Meanwhile, a number of officials of the M&CC were present for the handing over ceremony. Amongst these officials was the I.T. Manager who was especially grateful for the boost. He expressed gratitude on behalf of the councilors and shared that the computers will go a long way in bettering the services provided to the Guyanese public.
